What to Expect

What therapy looks like

We typically begin with a free, 15-minute consultation call. Here, I generally ask about your concerns and level of distress and determine if I might be a good fit for your needs. If so, we would then schedule our first appointment. Please note that due to the nature of telehealth, I am likely not a good fit if you are struggling with self-harm or are in need of higher-touch services (i.e., an intensive outpatient service).

Prior to our intake, I’ll send some paperwork to fill out online (a consent form, privacy policy, and a few brief questionnaires). The first 2-3 appointments are considered an intake, and involve learning your history and current sources of distress. It’s also a good opportunity for you to see my style and determine if it’s a good interpersonal fit for you. At the end of the intake, I’ll summarize my understanding of the problems, how I believe I can help, and then both of us will collaboratively create treatment goals and a plan. I aim to be transparent about my areas of competency and will provide referrals should I believe I’m not the right fit.

On-going sessions are typically 60 minutes long once per week. Occasionally, sessions may last 90 minutes long depending on the presenting problem and treatment approach (i.e., some exposure-based therapies benefit from 90 mins). It is difficult to determine exactly how long therapy may take; I offer both long-term and short-term therapy, and regularly check-in to see how progress is going and what the needs of my clients are. My goal is for my clients to internalize skills and insights from our sessions and be able to live resiliently and autonomously.

Payment

Due to only offering telehealth, I only accept credit, debit, and HSA cards. Payment is made automatically from my portal the evening of our session. You may request a superbill for out-of-network insurance reimbursement at any point.

Cancellation policy

I value your time and secure your hour each week. To protect my time, I institute a 48-hour cancellation policy and will charge the full amount if the session is cancelled or no-showed within 48 hours of the scheduled appointment. However, I offer a “free pass” for the first time this happens. Additionally, if we are able to reschedule to another day/time that week, I will forgo the late cancellation fee.
